Ok...how many would be interested in doing a WoW movie? I'd like to see if we could get some interest in it, and some ideas. I don't have the full version of FRAPS (anyone have it?), but I have all of the video editing software we'd need, and I'm sure others do as well. We could do some goofy ones to start, just to get ideas, etc. Maybe just video an instance run, etc.
So...any interest?

Definitely, lets do it!!
Do you have the video capturing software which shows the mouse cursor? I had one which didnt and it sucked up a LOT of cpu, but now I have a 64 chip and it might be better than what I had (athlon barton 1.8 OC to 2.2)

I only have the demo version of fraps. If anyone has anything else, lets do some tests I was able to um...acquire...a full copy of FRAPS v2.7.2. 3.17mb install file works perfect. Only thing we will have to do is get some sort of compression program. It saves .avi files - I did a test for like 10 seconds and it was ~150mb Maybe there is an option for vid quality, i didnt have time to check. Would anyone like to take the harness on capturing videos and editing?

ok cool I can do the editing, etc. If you could do the capturing, prop, that would be cool I have a server we can dump large files onto, etc. Basically, lets try some things. We can capture some stuff, then i'll play with editing, etc. Sound like a plan?

Yeah, i found a demo version of a program which used DIVX codec for audio and video ;D ....ill have to see if I can um...get...the full version somehow... The demo version does 10 seconds worth of video & audio which equated to 1.64mb of space at a ehhhhh quality @ 800x600 (highest resolution the demo would allow). Its pretty grainy, but if you squint real hard you can still make out the words (I recorded it at 1024x768) I shall work on this diligently until we get it working well!

the size is normal for regular uncompressed video avi. IF you can, u can convert to mpg at that should compress the avi's nicely, without sacrificing too much video quality. Also, if you want, u can uncheck recording audio.

I shall try converting to mpg as well as not using sound & see how much of a difference there is in size. Im new to the whole video editing scheme

Vids are uploaded @ unfortunaltely a considerably lower quality to Dismay's FTP site. But, they are there. If the quality is too low for our tastes, Ill look for a different compressor.

Ok, I did a quickie edit of Prop's videos. If you'd like here are the links... Prop's really short ZF Movie www.rockvillemedia.com/wowmovies/Cynicism ZF really short battle.mpg is 18.7mb Prop's short ZF Movie www.rockvillemedia.com/wowmovies/Cynicism ZF short battle.mpg is 72.2mb My version of Prop's really short ZF Movie www.rockvillemedia.com/wowmovies/cynicism short movie 31106.wmv is 6.67mb My version is in wmv format, so if you have windows, all is good. IF you use a mac, get the codecs/drivers. I know, I just recently saw Benny Hill used in some video or another...but hey, I got to put my two fave songs in one video. As a test, I think it turned out as something. Let me know if you guys have any ideas. Just looked, the url isn't being completed...you may have to copy and paste the full url in.
