I am a teacher and recently was in charge of our classroom lesson. I chose a week on tales including myths, fairy tales, tall tales, etc. And hilariously enough I was really worried, when talking about myths, that I was gonna get in trouble for mentioning that the characters in myths are often gods ("really powerful beings" was gonna be my exact phrasing). And it really made the whole "religion in education" argument hit home for me.
I know that religion in any form in education has recently come under lots and lots of fire from various groups. How do people feel about this?
I for one have never cared about hearing about religion in school. I believe there's a pretty good difference between being taught religion and being prostelytized to. But should religion be excised from our schools completely?
I have more to say on the subject but would love to get exciting discussion going before I blab on...and on...and on.
Love to hear myself type.

This could get sticky fast LOL IMO to teach the differences and similarities without favoring any religion would be okay, but coming from the bible belt, i know that would most likely be a tall order. I do believe in separation of church and state, however I wish I had learned more in school about religions I have had not contact with. (At least I can go online and study what I want to know though ) However, I know that religious studies in non university setting will most likely never happen. The biggest reason being there are so many religions that there is no way to ever touch on them all, so one group or another would be upset at being left out. and it would just snowball from there. Hard topic, will have many opinions. So many positive and negatives that can come from something so simple. Makes me glad I have RPG's to get away from this complicated life for a bit
